Welcome to our blog where we share everything from recent weddings and engagements, to our amazing adventures as a family of four. When we aren’t photographing weddings, our family is traveling the world, decorating our new home in Ottawa, Ontario or snuggled up watching movies with our basset hound, Georgia. We love working with joyous couples and absolutely cannot wait to tell your story!

Just like many other engaged 2020 couples had different plans for their wedding day, so did Kelsey and Caleb. Originally they had discussed holding their wedding in Nova Scotia considering that where the couple grew up. After quickly realizing that the big fancy wedding wasn’t for them, they shifted gears and planned an adventurous destination elopement. Once again, their plans changed as the pandemic put a halt to safely travelling to their desired destination. After sharing many discussions about how they wanted their wedding day to be, the couple decided they just wanted to be married. It wasn’t about the party, the decor or even the dress – it was about their love and dedication towards each other.

Kelsey was inspired by her own parents downtown elopement. This sparked the planning of a simple, intimate downtown Ottawa elopement where they would have two witnesses and erase all of the overwhelming feelings that planning a wedding can sometimes bring.

The morning of the elopement was calling for rain. And without missing a beat, clear umbrellas were packed and the couple was determined to not allow the rain to ruin their wedding day plans. They secured a quiet space overlooking the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, an iconic Downtown Ottawa backdrop where the couple exchanged their personal vows officiated by Angela Giles. Taking the rain into consideration, the couple chose to have a short ceremony.

Taking the rain into consideration, the couple chose to have a short, intimate ceremony. Just as Angela pronounced Kelsey and Caleb as newlyweds, the sunshine filled the skies  – almost as if their family members that couldn’t physically be there, were reminding the pair they were watching over their big moment. After sharing the big news over FaceTime, the couple shared in a newlywed portrait session to document the big day.

We couldn’t be more thrilled for you both. Huge congratulations Kelsey and Caleb!
